Don’t be fooled by light,  low calorie, and low carbohydrate beer.

Light beers don’t always add up to the smart choice for your waist size. Let us say you decide to enjoy yourself and want to get drunk. You decide to drink Bud Select 55 to save some calories. According to beer100.comBud Select 55 has only 55 calories and 1.9g of carbs. That is pretty low for a beer especially compared to Budweiser’s that have 145 calories and 10.6g of carbs! Easy choice right?

Well you may not have noticed that Bud Select 55 is only 2.4% alcohol, which is less than half of Budweiser’s alcohol content (5.0g)! So if your goal is to get drunk it looks like you’ll have to crush twice as many Bud Select 55 cans.

You may also tell yourself that light beer is still a better choice than say pasta or a bagel because they still have less than 5g of carbohydrates. That is true but don’t forget that alcohol is kind of like a carb hybrid and actually contains almost twice as many calories per gram as carbohydrates.
